Heading "H" tags (H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, and H6) were developed to help provide information on the structural hierarchy of a web page. This is done in order to facilitate accessibility as well as standards.
Headings are especially important to those with disabilities as screen readers use headings to help navigate through a page. The different types of headings specify the outline of the page. H1 tags would be ranked first and should be used for main headings. H2 headings would come next, then the H3 and so on.
Headings reflect the organization of content on the page.
Search engines use headings to index the structure and content of a page.
Users skim your pages by its headings. It is important to use headings to show the document structure and the relationships between different sections.
