Information for Prospective Practicum Students

We provide a comprehensive training experience for Masters and PhD level graduate students in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology and Educational Psychology programs. To promote the development of professional Counsellors and Psychologists, practicum students are offered opportunities to provide a range of services in a professional and supportive environment that values the unique skills and experiences of the Counsellor-in-training. While the primary focus is one-on-one counselling for personal issues, practicum students may have opportunities to pursue other counselling-related activities such as offering psychoeducational workshops.

The Counselling Centre welcomes expressions of interest regarding practicum student placements year-round. Interested practicum students are encouraged to submit a cover letter and resume via email to counselling@smu.ca or addressed to:
