A Rising Star in Black Hole Research
Sophia Waddell – Faculty of Science
When both of your parents found careers in the field of science, you could say your future is pretty well written in the stars. For Astrophysicist Sophia Waddell, that’s especially true. From an early age, Sophia had more than a passing interest science, and while at Saint Mary’s under the mentorship of Dr. Luigi Gallo in the Faculty of Science, Sophia nurtured this interest into a lifetime of questions about supermassive blackholes and how they work.
Now, Sophia’s off to Germany to pursue her PhD at the prestigious Max Planck Institute of Astrophysics where she’ll continue to set her sights on the stars, helping us all better understand our place in them.
