NOTE: FGH applications for the upcoming 2025-2026 FGH term (September 1, 2025 - July 31, 2026) will open on March 24, 2025. Students must be actively registered in courses/ programs for the 2025-2026 academic year to be eligible. Interested applicants should email residence.housing@smu.ca to be sent an application. PLEASE NOTE that FGH apartments for the 2024-2025 FGH term are currently COMPLETELY FULL. Priority for any available apartments will be given to student families, mature students, and graduate students.
NOTE:
Saint Mary's University offers one- and two-bedroom apartments for student families, graduate students, and mature students. Family & Graduate Housing (FGH) apartments are located in the Loyola Residence building. FGH residence agreements / contracts are 11 or 12 months in length. All Family & Graduate Housing residence agreements / contracts end on July 31 of a given year. Family & Graduate Housing monthly rental rates are adjusted annually on August 1 and are available through Housing & Residence (residence.housing@smu.ca).
Monthly rent includes electricity, heat, water, hot water, range, refrigerator, access to the campus network, and wireless internet access. TVs, computers, and cords are not included. Card-operated laundry facilities are located on the second floor of the Loyola Residence building. Janitorial service is provided for common areas throughout the building (i.e. elevator lobby, hallways), but FGH residents are responsible for cleaning their apartments themselves. Please refer to the Residence Handbook for more information.
Enrollment in our Pre-Approved Debit (PAD) system is a condition of occupancy; individuals can complete the necessary paperwork when signing the FGH residence agreement. (This allows monthly rent to be deducted from a bank account of the resident's choice on the first day of each month.)
Meal plans are optional in Family & Graduate Housing apartments.

One-Bedroom Apartments
These apartments include one bedroom, a kitchen, a living-dining room, a bathroom, a hallway, a storage area (in some cases), and closets. Most one bedrooms face west, overlooking Halifax's North West Arm of the harbour. A few face east, overlooking Huskies Stadium and the Halifax Harbour.
Two-Bedroom Apartments
These apartments include two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living-dining room, a bathroom, a hallway, a storage area, and closets. Our two-bedroom apartments face east and overlook Huskies Stadium and the Halifax Harbour.
Two-Bedroom Apartments Large
These apartments are similar to our two-bedrooms noted above but also feature a large L-shaped living and dining room.
