Keynote Speaker
Signa Butler
Signa Butler is a host and play-by-play commentator with over 20 years of experience in the industry, having served as the morning sports host for CBC News Network and as a field reporter for CBC Sports Presents. The 2024 Paris Olympic Games will be her 13th Olympics with CBC.
Butler got her start with CBC Sports in 2000 following her graduation from Toronto Metropolitan University's graduate journalism program, getting her first big break as a Senior Writer for the Sydney Olympic Games. Butler joined the CBC Sports play-by-play team in 2014, and has since called 29 different sports for the network, including freestyle skiing, snowboarding, speed skating, gymnastics, swimming, soccer and volleyball.
A native of Halifax, Butler excelled at multiple sports growing up, but settled on soccer in university. During her years with the Saint Mary's University Huskies, she was a four-time Atlantic Conference All-Star, an All-Canadian and the AUS Conference Player of the Year. Butler also played on Nova Scotia's provincial basketball and Canada Games field hockey teams and toured with several ultimate Frisbee teams in Toronto. She’s since hung up her cleats after three ACL reconstructions.
Butler is the proud (and busy) mom to twin boys and remains a committed sports fan, as she has been from an early age.
