Karly is the Canada Research Chair in Atlantic Canada Communities and her research explores religion, migration, and minority identities in the north Atlantic. She is also interested in sustainable development and rural change in Nova Scotia and the Scottish Highlands. In addition to being the GRI’s board chairperson, Karly is also the convenor of the Scottish Historical Review Trust and the president of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.
