In this, the International Year of the Family, it seems most appropriate to honour the President of the Vanier Institute of the Family, Judith Mary Sapp, A native Haligonian, Mrs. Sapp holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Newton College of the Sacred Heart, Newton, Massachusetts; a Master of Social Work from the University of Ottawa; and a Master of Sacred Theology from the Atlantic School of Theology.
She was responsible for establishing the first Department of Social Sciences at the Halifax Infirmary and for over two decades has worked as a volunteer on a variety of boards and committees ranging from the Vanier Institute of the Family in Ottawa to Mount Saint Vincent University?s Board of Governors where she also served as a member of its Executive. As a founding Director and past Chair of the Board of the Sacred Heart School of Halifax, as a Director of the Discernment Year Program, also a member of the Vocations Committee for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Halifax, Mrs. Sapp brought a wealth of experience to her current chairpersonship, namely that of the Board of Governors of the Atlantic School of Theology.
She is married to Dr. John L. Sapp, Medical Director of the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre, and has four children, Felicity, John Jr., Cathy, and Nicholas.
