Do you have a fear of public speaking?

Do you get nervous when you present a project in class? Do you want to get better at promoting yourself in interviews? Overcome your fear by joining Halifax Toastmasters at SMU! Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization that teaches public speaking and leadership development. There are clubs all around the world including a club right here at Saint Mary's University!

Halifax Toastmasters at SMU is a friendly and supportive environment to help you improve your skills.

During our weekly meeting, you will have the opportunity to present a prepared or impromptu speech. You will learn how to give and receive feedback in a positive and supportive way. Through the many meeting roles, you will have the opportunity to practice speaking fluently, using changes in your voice and movement to engage with the audience, and active listening skills.

Our meetings are in-person at SB260! Gain experience in presenting and learn how to use body language and vocal variety to stand out in interviews.

Halifax Toastmasters at SMU is an open club for students, alumni, and the general public. The club is supported by our sponsors, Saint Mary University’s Career & Experiential Learning and the Counselling Center, to deliver the best experience for improvement. Information about the club’s regular meetings is listed below.

We meet every Thursday from 6:50 pm to 8:30 pm.
