Temporary Parking

A limited number of temporary parking permits are available for purchase to SMU employees and visitors to campus (see costs below) on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Permits may be purchased in the Facilities Management office, McNally South rm.011, during regular business hours - Monday to Friday 8:30AM to 4:30PM {Summer hours 8:30AM to 4PM}.

Full-time faculty members may purchase a temporary Faculty permit which is valid for parking in both faculty and general parking spaces. Staff and visitors may purchase a temporary General permit which is valid for parking in general spaces only. 

Please note: all permits are valid in accessible parking spaces provided the vehicle also holds a province/city issued accessible parking tag.

IMPORTANT - Parking permits are not valid for use at meters.

Students: Temporary permits may not be available to students, year-round; please contact Facilities Management at (902)420-5572 for details.

Permit Cost:      Daily $10;   Weekly $30;   Monthly $55

Complimentary parking - (internal requests only)

Departments requesting complimentary parking for their guests or for an event, should send a detailed email to University Security Manager, Kevin Trudeau at kevin.trudeau@smu or to facilities.management@smu.ca.

Please send your request at least 3 business days prior to the date that the permit is needed (1-2 weeks for larger events).
