Biography

<p>Dr. Rahman Khokhar is Associate Professor of finance in the Sobey School of Business. He currently teaches investment banking, merger and acquisition, portfolio management, corporate finance, and working capital management.</p> <p>Rahman&rsquo;s primary research interests are in the broader field of empirical corporate finance. He has published in quality and reputable finance and accounting journals, including a Financial Times Top 50 journal. His published and ongoing scholarly work has covered variety of topics in the corporate finance area, such as cash holding, executive compensation, corporate governance, dividend policy, short-term finance, trust and corporate social responsibility, and financial disclosure. Rahman has served as Divisional Chair for ASAC and as editor and reviewer for several reputable finance journals and conferences. In addition, he is the lead organizer of the SMU-BNUZ Research Symposium. He has presented his work at the leading accounting, finance, and economics conferences in North America, Europe, South East Asia and the Middle East.</p> <p>Rahman is an active member of academic community and has served on multiple Sobey School committees including the BComm review committee, finance search committee, strategic planning committee, and Frank H. Sobey scholarship committee. He is an elected member of the Saint Mary&rsquo;s academic senate, where he also serves on the university budget advisory committee, agenda committee, and library committee. Rahman is a lifetime member of the international business honour society Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) and an inaugural member of the Northern Finance Association (NFA).</p> <p>Rahman received his PhD in finance in 2013 from DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University, and an MBA in finance and marketing in 2005 from Desautels Faculty of Management, McGill University.</p>
