Dr. Helms Mills' research interests are in the areas of Critical Management Studies, Gender, Critical Sensemaking, Historiography, Intersectionality and the Sociology of Knowledge. Her publications, include 19 books and edited collections, 41 peer reviewed articles and 48 chapters in edited collections. She has presented her research nationally and internationally through conferences and invited talks. In 2014, Jean was awarded the President’s Award for Research Excellence at Saint Mary’s University. Dr. Helms Mills is the Co-Editor of the journal, Qualitative Research in Organizations and Management (QROM) and Associate Editor for Gender, Work and Organization and she serves on the editorial boards of a number of scholarly journals. Over the past decade Jean been directly involved in grants totalling over $12 both here and in Finland. Jean taught the large undergraduate sections of Micro Organizational Behaviour from 2003-20014 and now teaches this course online, as well as Organizational Theory at the PhD level. Currently she is supervising four PhD students. Jean is a Guest Professor at Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics, International Reader at University of Helsinki, Swedish School of Social Sciences and Adjunct Professor at University of Eastern Finland and she continues as a Senior Visiting Research Fellow at Hanken School of Economics.
