Paul S. Dixon is a Professor of Operations Management in the Sobey School of Business. He has worked at Saint Mary’s for 38 years, in both teaching/research and administrative capacities. He has taught courses in mathematics, statistics, manufacturing and service operations management, project management, and business research methods. His research publications have appeared in Management Science, IIE Transactions, Journal of Operations Management and the International Journal of Production Research. From 1980 to 1991 his research was funded by NSERC. His previous administrative experience includes • Associate Vice-President (Enrolment) & Registrar (2005 – 2017) • Dean of Commerce (1997-2002) • Acting MBA Director (1999-2000) • Acting Dean of Commerce (1991-3 and 1996-7) • Associate Dean of Commerce (1989-91), and • Chairperson Department of Finance and Management Science (1987-9) He has served as a director on various boards (Canadian Federation of Business School Deans, Junior Achievement Nova Scotia, ITANS, Aerospace and Defence Industry Human Resource Partnership). He served on the MPHEC Information and Analysis Committee from 2009 to 2015. His current research interests are with respect to changing student demographics, domestically and internationally, new opportunities for student recruitment, programs and services needed to attract and engage those not participating in post-secondary education, determinants of student persistence and success.
