New to SMU Summer Welcome

A sneak peak of what is to come for September 2020!

The Online New to SMU Summer Welcome was held on July 17th, 2020. With hundreds of students and parents / supporters participating online, it was a great day to find information, meet other new students, and get questions answered. Many of the sessions were recorded and videos of the recordings are below.

Our location

These sessions took place online and were watched around the world. The sessions were broadcast from Nova Scotia, in the traditional lands of the Mi'kmaq Nation. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship which the Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik Peoples signed with the British Corwn in 1725. The Treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized the Mi'kmaw and Wolastoqiyik title and established the fules for what was to be an ongoing relationship.
