SMU Acceptance Contest Rules

  1. Eligibility

    • Must be admitted to Saint Mary’s University (SMU) for the September 2025 intake by March 31, 2025.
    • The contest is open to students currently residing in Canada only.

  2. How to Enter

    • Direct message (DM) us at @smuhalifax on Instagram and state: “My Contest Entry: I’m excited to come to SMU because (tell us why!)”
    • For a bonus entry (one per person), send us a picture of you with your acceptance pack and tag it #SMUbonusentry.

  3. Prizes

    • Grand Prize (1): $5000 towards your first-year tuition at SMU! This prize will be applied as $2500 per term in the 2025-2026 academic year. (Note: Prize cannot be exchanged for cash.)
    • Bookstore Gift Cards: Four (4) additional winners will receive $250 gift cards to the SMU bookstore. These gift cards cannot be exchanged for cash.

  4. Winner Selection

    • Winners will be selected randomly from eligible entries. Bonus entries (one per person) are given to those who submit a photo with their acceptance pack. The Grand Prize winner will receive their prize in the form of a tuition credit on their student account upon registration for courses at Saint Mary’s University. Bookstore gift cards will be available for pick up by winners. Details will be provided to winners.

  5. Announcement

    • Winners will be announced on our Instagram page on April 15, 2025. Make sure you're following @smuhalifax on instagram to stay updated!

  6. General Contest Rules

    • All entries must be submitted by March 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM ADT.
    • The prize is non-transferable and non-exchangeable for cash.
    • By entering, you agree to allow SMU to share your name and entry on our social media channels if selected as a winner.
    • If grand prize winner does not enroll at Saint Mary’s University in September 2025, the winner will forfeit the prize.
