Welcome to the preview of the new SMUport. This October SMUport will be undergoing an upgrade to allow it to continue moving forward, to enable the latest technologies and to foster easy and efficient collaboration. During the transition the general look and feel of SMUport will remain intact, but a few elements will see some changes.

Groups vs Sites

In the past versions of SMUport you were able to create Groups for basic collaboration and content sharing. Within the new SMUport Groups have been switched to Sites; with Sites you still have the same collaboration such as message boards, but you can now add other tools like a Wiki or Blog.

Each new Site will be given a basic template to help get it up and running, but you can move your Sites beyond the basics and host custom content within a Web Content Display. This can empower your Site to move past the restrictions of the past Groups should you choose.

When looking to access your Sites you have two options from the main page.

  • My Sites icon. From this icon you will have quick shortcut access to your Sites.

  • Site Requests tab. From the tab you’re able to join, request or access sites. To access your sites find the site under the ‘My Sites’ heading and click the sites icon ().

Personal Sites

Everyone has two default pages listed under 'My Sites' aside from the Home Community; My Public Pages and My Private Pages.

  • Private Pages are only viewable to you making them perfect for acting as a dashboard to become home to content that you want easy access to
  • Public Pages can act as a home page for your information or content that you would like to make accessible to anyone.
