Award Categories
Young Alumni Award
The Young Alumni Award is presented, when merited, to Young Alumni for truly outstanding achievements that may have earned them regional, national or international recognition or prominence through:
- Service to humanity.
- Their professions and/or volunteer organizations.
- Community service.
- The advancement of knowledge.
- Service to Saint Mary's University.
This Award is granted to Saint Mary's University Alumni within 10 years of receiving a Bachelor's degree or within five years of receiving a Graduate degree. A maximum of three candidates per year will be granted the Young Alumni Award.
Distinguished Community Service Award
The Distinguished Community Service Award is presented, when merited, to a member of the Saint Mary's University Alumni Association who has made an outstanding achievement and/or contribution in their community, discipline, and or to Saint Mary's University.
Associate Alumni of the Year Award
Associate Alumni Membership is presented, when merited, to recognize an individual or individuals who did not attend Saint Mary's University, but have become important members of the campus community through their dedication, volunteerism, and/or support of the University and its endeavours. A maximum of three candidates per year will be granted Associate Alumni Membership.
The Paul Lynch Alumni Volunteer Award
The Paul Lynch Alumni Volunteer Award is presented, when merited, to an individual or individuals who have provided outstanding service to the Saint Mary's University Alumni Association on a voluntary basis. A maximum of two candidates per year will be granted the Paul Lynch Alumni Volunteer Award. The award is named in recognition of the late Paul Lynch BComm'76, a dedicated volunteer to our Ottawa Chapter for years.
Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year Award
The Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year Award is presented in collaboration with the Arthur L. Irving Entrepreneurship Centre to recognize alumni who have achieved outstanding entrepreneurial success in sustainability, innovation, and community outreach. A maximum of three candidates per year will be granted the Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Selection candidates are considered annually by the Saint Mary's University Alumni Association's Awards & Nomination Committee. Winners will be announced and celebrated at the Alumni Awards event in November.
